Bayern Munich forward could miss pre-season due to injury

Bayern Munich forward Leroy Sane may miss majority of pre-season due to suffering an injury setback during Germany’s defeat against Spain.

The German contingent from Bayern Munich suffered disappointment at the Euros this week. Spain knocked out Germany in a thrilling quarter-final clash on Friday. Along with the defeat for their players, Bayern have also suffered an injury blow from this game.

Leroy Sane was substituted against Spain at half-time due to an injury. According to Sky Sports journalist Kerry Hau, Sane risks missing a big chunk of pre-season due to the recurrence of pubic bone injury. The German winger requested a substitution since he was not able to move freely due to this injury.

Sane has been struggling with this injury for months. Bayern was managing his workload during the last two months of the season. He didn’t play a single Bundesliga game after Bayern were knocked out of the Champions League at the start of May.

It is a massive blow for Die Roten since they hoped to have Sane available for the latter part of the pre-season. The German winger will go on vacation for a couple of weeks before reporting at Sabner Strasse. The Bavarian club will hope to have Sane fit for their DFB Pokal clash against Ulm on August 16.

Bayern will sit down with Sane when he returns to Sabner Strasse to discuss his future. The Bavarian club wants to extend his contract. Sane also feels settled in Munich. Both parties need to sort out the financial details of the contract. Sane will be reunited with his former teammate Vincent Kompany after Die Roten appointed the Belgian as the new head coach of the first team.

Sane will become the senior wide player in the squad next season. Bayern want to part ways with Kingsley Coman and Serge Gnabry this summer. They are close to completing a deal for Michael Olise from Crystal Palace. The French forward is in Munich to put the finishing touches to the transfer. Die Roten is also in talks to sign Xavi Simons from PSG to strengthen the attack.

Germany’s exit from the Euros will allow Bayern to start the process of clarifying the future of key players in the squad. The Bavarian club will sit down with Joshua Kimmich to resolve his future. Die Roten are open to listening to offers for Kimmich since he has one year left on his contract. PSG have reportedly revived their interest in Kimmich. The Bavarian club is also hoping to begin contract talks with Jamal Musiala.
