Six Man City youngsters travel with Club World Cup squad ahead of Urawa Red Diamonds clash

Manchester City have included six academy players in their squad that has travelled to the Club World Cup in Saudi Arabia.

Micah Hamilton is one of six youth players from Manchester City who are traveling with the first team group to Saudi Arabia for the Club World Cup this week.

Following their Premier League match with Crystal Palace, City took a flight to Jeddah on Saturday night. They brought a 23-man official squad, which included injured players Jeremy Doku, Erling Haaland, and Kevin De Bruyne, to the Club World Cup.

Haaland and Doku have been sidelined as their recuperations are being closely monitored, while De Bruyne is not anticipated to participate. They will be evaluated based on each individual game. As of right now, MEN Sport is aware that Pep Guardiola has added six academy players to the team in addition to the 23 official players.

Last week, Hamilton made his Champions League debut against Red Star. He scored the game’s winning penalty after 19 minutes of play. Along with Mahamadou Susoho, another debutant in Serbia, he is traveling with the group.

Guardiola admitted his regret after the game that he couldn’t bring on Max Alleyne, and the centre-back is also in Saudi Arabia, along with under-21 regulars Justin Oboavwoduo, Joel Ndala and Jacob Wright.

Like Hamilton, Oboavwoduo and Ndala are wingers, while Wright has been vying with Susoho for a holding midfield position for Brian Barry-Murphy’s young players. After playing 45 minutes with 10 men, City’s EDS team fell 6-0 at home against Norwich on Sunday without those six players.

Since the six call-ups were left off of the official 23-man roster, it is unknown if they will be allowed to compete in the Club World Cup. Clubs can make changes up to 24 hours prior to their first game, although they can only substitute a player in the event of an illness or injury.

On Monday, Fluminense, the Copa Libertadores winners, will play Al Ahly, the winners of the African Champions League, in the first semi-final matchup that will reveal City’s probable final opponents. On Tuesday, City plays Urawa Red Diamonds in the second semifinal.
