Nottingham Forest following Evangelos Marinakis transfer plan as new target emerges

Nottingham Forest are said to be keeping tabs on teenage midfielder Jordan James as their summer recruitment drive continues.

The Reds have already signed midfielder Marko Stamenic and versatile youngster Eric da Silva Moreira since the transfer window opened earlier this month. However, Stamenic will spend the upcoming season on loan at fellow Evangelos Marinakis-owned side Olympiacos.

Overseeing outgoings will be a key priority for Forest before the August 30 deadline. They do want to strengthen Nuno Espirito Santo’s squad, though, so further incomings are also on the cards.

Earlier this year, owner Marinakis outlined the template the club are likely to continue to follow when it comes to new additions. In an interview, he pointed out that the Reds – with some exceptions – have looked to bring in young players with the potential to increase in value.

Birmingham City’s James comes into that bracket. According to The Telegraph, the 19-year-old is on Forest’s “radar” as they target emerging talent.

The Wales international came up through the ranks at the Blues. He broke into the first-team in 2021 and has notched up more than 100 appearances since then.

Moreira, who penned a four-year deal earlier this week, is also viewed as a bright prospect. The 18-year-old made the switch to the City Ground from St Pauli in a deal worth about £1.25 million.

The teenager is capable of playing as a right-back, wing-back and as a winger. Chief football officer Ross Wilson said of the new recruit: “We have a number of exciting young players in our squad already and we are pleased that Eric is another with high potential who we are excited to add to our ranks.”
