Meetings scheduled for West Ham to secure £17m summer transfer

Meetings have been scheduled between West Ham United and Vitoria de Guimaraes over the potential transfer of Jota Silva, according to Sebastiao Sousa Pinto.

The Portuguese Sport TV journalist reported via his X account on Sunday (2 June) that talks between the parties have been arranged for the coming days, but no official offer has been made by the Hammers so far.

Silva has a £17million [€20million] release clause in his Vitoria contract and the Irons have already discussed a four-year contract with him. It remains to be seen whether a genuine offer will be made following the upcoming talks.

Will West Ham United sign Jota Silva during the summer transfer window?

West Ham and Julen Lopetegui are wasting no time in this summer transfer window. They may not have confirmed a single signing yet, but it appears as though they’re doing all that they can to try and get new faces through the door.

The former Real Madrid manager is understood to want a number of additions to his squad before he officially begins work at the start of July. Whether or not Silva will be one of those incoming stars should become clearer in the coming days.

Silva has enjoyed an excellent season in Portugal, scoring 11 goals and laying on five assits for his teammates in just 33 appearances. He is capable of playing anywhere across the frontline and could be a real difference-maker under Lopetegui.

If the two parties have already discussed a potential four-year contract, you would have to imagine the 24-year-old would be keen on making the move to East London. The sticking point could only be talks between the two club.

Hopefully, the Hammers will just pay Silva’s release clause and complete this signing ahead of the start of pre-season.
