Fosun now keen on selling ‘electric’ £3m Wolves talent as transfer stance emerges

Wolves are looking to offload some of their players in the transfer window to fund a big summer of business and Fosun could sanction a move for one of their ‘electric’ talents.

The gloss has somewhat been removed from what was a successful first season in charge for Gary O’Neil at Wolves.

A 14th-place finish in the Premier League was seen as progress at Molineux but Jeff Shi has now threatened to move backwards off the pitch after raising season ticket prices.

Supporters were left outraged at the decision and it doesn’t appear to be reversed despite a petition amassing over 14,000 signatures.

Whilst anger was directed at the Wolves’ ownership and rightly so, they could plunge themselves deeper into the mire if they decide to sell one of their promising talents this summer.

Wolves plan on selling Chiquinho, Sporting Lisbon are interested

According to the Portuguese outlet Record – as relayed by Sport Witness – Wolves could be prepared to sell talented winger Chiquinho this summer as they have no plans to bring him back into the fold.

The 24-year-old enjoyed a productive campaign on loan at Familicao in the Portuguese first division, scoring five and assisting four in 27 appearances.

Chiqinho’s impressive form has put Sporting Lisbon on red alert and they could get a deal done for as little as €4.5 million (£3.8 million) this summer.

The former Portugal under-21 international has struggled to break into the first-team at Wolves since arriving in 2022. He’s featured just nine times, although he did grab three assists in the 2021/22 Premier League campaign as he showed glimpses of his “electric” talent.

Wolves are looking to offload some of their players to give O’Neil some extra funds to spend on recruits, with it looking like Chiquinho could depart.

Chiquinho should only move on if Gary O’Neil has a replacement lined up

Wolves shot themselves in the foot last season. Towards the end of the campaign, O’Neil had a huge pile-up of injuries and hardly anyone to call upon in reserve aside from youngsters Nathan Fraser and Tawanda Chirewa, who aren’t ready for the first team.

Whilst they struggled with a depleted squad, there were several players out on loan elsewhere, including attackers Daniel Podence, Fabio Silva and Goncalo Guedes.

The Wanderers made matters worse by not strengthening in January, so when their overworked players suffered injuries, namely Pedro Neto, Jean-Ricner Bellegarde, Matheus Cunha and Hwang Hee-Chan, they didn’t have the depth to cover for such misfortune.

Some would be sad to see Chiquinho depart this summer as he’s certainly a talented player and he hasn’t been given a proper chance to shine.

And while this report suggests he doesn’t have a future at Molineux, he should only be sold if the club have another winger to come in, otherwise, it could be a mistake.
