Regarding ticket distribution for the FA Cup third-round trip to the Stadium of Light, Newcastle United is still in negotiations with Sunderland and the local government.

Supporters have been pressuring Northumbria Police to grant them permission to claim the entire 15% allotment, or about 7,300 tickets, in accordance with FA Cup regulations. When Liverpool played Everton at Anfield in 2020, the Toffees brought 7,900 supporters across Stanley Park, setting a precedent for such a supporting base.

Prices are yet to be confirmed by either club. Those discussions are continuing with Northumbria Police also involved on the final ticket allocation.

“By law, operational policing is a matter for the Chief Constable,” said Police and Crime Commissioner Kim McGuinness in response to the Newcastle United Supporter’s Trust. I cannot direct the Chief Constable to allocate resources on my behalf as the Police and Crime Commissioner.

“The clubs should negotiate matters pertaining to ticket allocation with the police, the two local governments, and our transportation providers. However, I can affirm that I brought up your letter with the Chief Constable directly on your behalf because I made it public that I believe all parties should cooperate to make this a game that as many fans may attend as feasible.”

The Newcastle United Supporter’s Club stated today that talks are “ongoing” and that they anticipate ticket sales to begin the following week.
