Notts County are keen on a loan move for Sunderland goalkeeper Matty Young, according to reporter Alan Nixon on his Patreon.
Notts County have identified the young stopper as a potential option for them between the sticks next season. They are gearing up for another year in League Two as they look to make a push for promotion to League One.

Young, 17, is highly-rated by Sunderland and they have a big decision to make regarding what to do with him next amid interest from lower down the Football League. He spent time in the National League North in this past campaign at Darlington to get some experience under his belt.

In this latest update regarding his situation by journalist Nixon on his Patreon page, the Magpies are interested in luring him to Meadow Lane on a temporary basis. They have just finished in 14th place in the table under Stuart Maynard.

Notts County could see Young as someone to compete for their number one spot next term.

They were promoted from the National League last year along with Wrexham and conceded way too many goals last season.

Maynard needs to tighten up their defensive department and bringing in a new ‘keeper is top of his list of priorities.

A switch to League Two would be the next natural progression for Young following his stint in the sixth tier at Darlington.

He joined Darlo in February to help boost his development and is now back at the Stadium of Light.
