Douglas Luiz has got his own back on Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand following Aston Villa’s Champions League qualification.
Tottenham’s 2-0 loss to Manchester City on Tuesday meant Unai Emery’s men qualified for next year’s elite European competition. Their chances of finishing in the Premier League’s top four, however, took a blow in February when Villa lost 2-1 at home to United – prompting Ferdinand to mock Luiz after his shimmy goal celebration. Now, the Brazilian has turned the tables on the ex-England international.
WHAT DOUGLAS LUIZ SAID
Three months ago, Ferdinand tweeted: “U ok Douglas Luiz?”, alongside a series of laughing emojis and a picture of the midfielder doing his shimmy celebration.
On Tuesday night, Luiz responded on X (formerly Twitter): “I just came here to find out if @rioferdy5 is okay?”
Ferdinand was not done, however. While he congratulated the 25-year-old, he also posted a photo of himself lifting the Champions League trophy in 2008.
@rioferdy5 Congrats @dgoficial… Champions League football thoroughly deserved next season
I just came here to find out if @rioferdy5 is okay?
