West Ham United offered chance to sign Kiko Femenia with Villarreal exit lined up for January transfer window

West Ham have been offered the chance to sign Kiko Femenia from Villarreal, according to the Daily Mirror.

Intermediaries have reportedly “sounded out” the Hammers and Crystal Palace over signing the Spaniard, who had previously played in the Premier League with Watford.

Not worth it

This is a deal that wouldn’t be worthwhile for West Ham because there’s clearly a reason why Villarreal, who sit in the bottom half of La Liga, are trying to sell him.

The right-back has only made one start in his six appearances in the league so far this season to go alongside four outings in the Europa League and Copa Del Rey [Transfermarkt].

The Spaniard turns 33 in February and is probably on the decline, but he does have some experience having played in over 100 Premier League games for Watford.

After his season-long performances, the Hammers are largely satisfied with Vladimir Coufal. However, right-backs Ben Johnson and Thilo Kehrer can also play well, even though they aren’t always the most dependable choices.

We should be searching for a younger, more capable player to take Coufal’s place in the long run, not making a move for Femenia.

A journalist has revealed a “big” Moyes revelation ahead of a meeting with the Hammers administration, in other West Ham news.
