Doctor: Rangers ace mooted to need late fitness test for Celtic clash due to ‘Serious’ injury

Rangers attacker Rabbi Matondo will likely need a late fitness test ahead of the game against Celtic, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.

The injury expert claims that it could be a muscular contusion or bone bruise or anything that would categorise his setback as a knock.

However, given his recent optimism, he may be in contention for a late fitness test ahead of the Old Firm derby on 11 May.

Discussing his situation exclusively with Ibrox News, Brar, a doctor in physical therapy and a sports scientist, said:

“He’s been out with what was called a ‘bad tackle’ and has not featured since then so it’s undoubtedly a serious setback.

Typically, contact-related incidents like challenges are more likely to be knocks whether that’s muscular contusion, bone bruise, etc.

These can be quite painful and limit function so that doesn’t surprise me too much that he hasn’t returned yet.

He does seem to be optimistic about a return and will perhaps need a late fitness test over the weekend if he has been in full first-team training this week.

Rabbi Matondo keen on returning for Rangers v Celtic

Matondo admitting he’s in line to return against Celtic suggests that he will be in full first-team training, as things stand.

The Wales international scored the equaliser the last time the two sides met and will be keen to be among the goals again on Saturday.

This game is crucial for Gers to win as any other result all but hands the title to their cross-town rivals at this stage of the season.
