The Costa Rica international has found himself down the pecking order at the Stadium of Light this season.

Bennette has only made two senior appearances so far in the 2023–24 season, so he was eager to move away in search of regular first-team action. The teenager has made five additional appearances for Sunderland’s Under-21 side in Premier League 2 competition, recording one goal and two assists. Hibernian of the Scottish Premiership has also been linked to Bennette, but Aris has won the race to sign him on loan for the remainder of the season.

The winger made his senior debut for Sunderland in 2022 after moving from Costa Rican team Herediano. In those 20 games, he has two goals and two assists.

He has a contract with the Stadium of Light that runs until June 2026, although the Wearside club has the option to extend it by an additional year.

Bennette, 19, made his debut for Costa Rica in August 2021 and has since been a full-fledged international, tallying two goals in 13 appearances.

This season, Sunderland is in 10th place under new manager Michael Beale, who has only won two of his team’s possible six Championship games since taking over on December 18. Aris is currently ranked fifth in Greece’s first division.

In other news, a Championship club is trying to sign a star from Sunderland.
