Rangers Scottish Cup semi-final draw, deja vu draw

Rangers progressed to the semi-finals of the Scottish Cup thanks to an eventful win over Hibernian on a firey night at Easter Road and now know who their next opponents will be.

If you want to win trophies, you have to beat the best teams at the sharp end of tournaments and Gers boss Philippe Clement will have been fully aware of the issues that the other teams in the draw have caused his squad in the past.

With the Viaplay Cup already in the bag, Rangers will be determined to add the Scottish Cup too – this is who they will face and when they will play them.

Clement has lost to Celtic at the tail end of 2023, saw two injury goals needed to beat Hearts and a similar situation to avoid defeat against Aberdeen.

All of the teams left will be confident that they will be the ones lifting silverware at the end of the season.

The games will take place at Hampden on Saturday April the 20th and 21st.

Rangers have won the Scottish Cup 34 times and will be looking to secure a place in the final and the opportunity to make it 35.

Standing in the way are Hearts.

The tie is a repeat of the Viaplay Cup semi-final where Rangers ran out 3-1 winners and a scoreline that could have been bigger.

As already stated, anyone of the teams would have presented a tough challenge but you know that Hearts will have a go.

The obvious threat is Lawrence Shankland, who is approaching 30 goals for the season, who has scored goals in almost every big game this season in derbies and against the Old Firm.

Hopefully, Connor Goldson and co. can keep him quiet this time.
