West Ham to go head-to-head with Wayne Rooney’s Birmingham for Derby aceWest Ham to go head-to-head with Wayne Rooney’s Birmingham for Derby ace

David Moyes seems to still want to be in charge of the Hammers’ January transfer spending even if it looks like he only has a few months remaining on his West Ham contract.

The club has not yet contacted their manager to extend his contract, which is set to expire on June 30, 2024, by offering him new terms.

Therefore, it would seem strange to allow Moyes to oversee what would essentially be his final transfer window as the club’s manager, especially considering that the next owner might not want to use many of the same players.

Though the club’s approach has always looked to be buying cheap in the hopes of hitting the jackpot with a player, it is undeniable that if the East Londoners want to take things to the next level, they need be shopping in a different market than the English championship.

Time will tell if they were wise to pursue the player in the first place if they can overcome Wayne Rooney’s Birmingham City to sign 22-year-old Eiran Cashin of Derby County. There has been a long list of misses in that area and a few hits.

TeamTalk also credit Middlesbrough, Burnley, Sheffield United and Brighton with an interest, so any potential hire by the Hammers is far from a foregone conclusion at this stage in any event.
