Callum O’Hare endgame as Celtic and Rangers option touted amid ‘likely’ Coventry contract scenario

Former England international Carlton Palmer is certain that Callum O’Hare, a star player for Coventry City who is linked to both Celtic and Rangers, won’t sign a new contract with the Sky Blues.

With his contract scheduled to expire at the end of this season, the 25-year-old attacking midfielder has scored nine goals for the Championship team this year. It has been stated that he has been given a new contract that will keep him with the Midlands team until 2027. They will have to fight to hold onto him after Leicester City and other major southern clubs shown a great deal of interest in him in the past.

The Daily Mail reported last week that scouts from three unnamed La Liga clubs are in the West Midlands ran the rule over O’Hare in action against West Brom. But it was also claimed Celtic and Rangers are “monitoring” him and either could make a move to sign him on a free transfer. O’Hare has been free to talk with clubs outside of England since January and Palmer expects the former Aston Villa star to be on the move.

Ex Sheffield Wednesday star Palmer told Football League World: “One player who has been attracting a lot of attention is Callum O’Hare. Three La Liga clubs are looking at him. Celtic and Rangers are also said to be keen on the 25-year-old too. He’s yet to sign a new contract at Coventry and his current deal is set to expire in the summer. He’s had an outstanding season, and it’s very unlikely now, with so few games left, that he’ll sign a new deal.

“He’s scored nine goals in his last 15 games. He’s been bang in form, and it’s a shame that they haven’t been able to tie him down, but I understand why they didn’t. He’s a player who has suffered a lot with injuries.

“He was offered a new contract, and a good contract at that, but he wants to keep his options open at the end of the season. Unless they are promoted to the Premier League, I feel that it’s more than likely that Callum O’Hare will play his football in pastures new come next season.”
