Leeds presented with Tottenham swap deal opportunity ahead of January window

Leeds and Tottenham could each exchange a player in the January transfer window with a swap deal.

In January, Leeds and Tottenham could make a trade that could be advantageous to both teams. With Son Heung-min departing for the Asian Cup next month, Ange Postecoglou’s Spurs will need more offensive punch going forward. They may trade players with Leeds to acquire that extra forward.

Soccer.According to London, Spurs have already given Leeds’ Wilfried Gnonto some consideration. Gnonto has had trouble returning to Daniel Farke’s starting lineup since suffering an ankle injury early in the season. Rather, the manager has favored a front four consisting of Dan James, Joel Piroe, Crysensio Summerfield, and Georginio Rutter.

Gnonto’s departure for the Premier League is now possible as a result of the club rejecting a major offer in the summer. Many teams would probably be eager to get the Italian out of Elland Road if he became available in January, but Spurs have one big advantage over potential bidders.

Despite his home club’s selection crisis at the back, Leeds could look to sign defender Joe Rodon permanently. Rodon has been spending the season on loan from Spurs. In recent games, Postecoglou was compelled to start full-backs Ben Davies and Emerson Royal in the middle of the back four.

Gnonto submitted a transfer request in August, but it was not fulfilled in the summer. He also declined to play for Leeds, missing three games.

Though he later made his way back to the team and expressed regret for his behavior, the 20-year-old has remained unpopular with Farke and rumors about him have persisted despite Leeds’ relegation.

Given that Richarlison has been sidelined for a considerable amount of time, Son is going to the Asian Cup, and Dejan Kulusevski has recently been utilized in a central role, Spurs may need to permanently part ways with Rodon in order to use Gnonto out wide.
