Kristjaan Speakman explains Michael Beale departure and confirms Sunderland’s next steps
|Mike Dodds has been named Sunderland’s interim head coach for the end of the current campaign, the club has confirmed.
Michael Beale resigned from his position after just 63 days and twelve games in charge, as The Echo disclosed this afternoon. Following back-to-back losses, the team lost momentum and Beale found it difficult to win over doubting fans.
Sporting director Kristjaan Speakman said he was ‘disappointed’ that Beale was leaving but that it was in the best interests of the club. He added that the club took ‘full accountability’ for what had happened.
