West Ham chief breaks silence on Liverpool links as Jurgen Klopp exit plan ramped up

Tim Steidten, the technical director of West Ham, has commented on the reports of “contact” between him and Liverpool. Steidten maintains he’s pleased at West Ham despite rumors of a move to Anfield and tales of a falling out with David Moyes over player moves.

West Ham United Could Get Summer Transfer Budget Boost

“I’ve heard that I should be on the list at Liverpool,” he said to Sky Germany. It is an honor because it is one of the largest clubs in the world. “However, no one from LFC has gotten in touch with me yet,” he continued. At West Ham, I generally feel really at ease. I was soon struck by how competitive this league is. We thus acquired the appropriate players during the most recent transfer windows. Because of the strength of the group, we can succeed.”

Steidten also expressed his excitement for the future. Steidten joined West Ham in July 2023 after playing for Werder Bremen and Bayer Leverkusen. However, no one from LFC has gotten in touch with me yet, he stated. At West Ham, I generally feel really at ease. I was soon struck by how competitive this league is. We thus acquired the appropriate players during the most recent transfer windows.

“With such a quality squad, we can accomplish our objectives. I am excited to tackle the upcoming weeks and months leading up to the season’s conclusion. Naturally, we are already organizing for the upcoming window. We shall see what the future holds.”

During his time at Leverkusen, Steidten made a big move by making Xabi Alonso the new boss in October 2022. Many think Alonso might be the next manager for Liverpool after Klopp said he’s leaving when the season ends

As part of significant adjustments made by the team’s owners, FSG, Jorg Schmadtke, Liverpool’s former sports director, departed at the end of January. After Michael Edwards left, Julian Ward had barely been in command for a year when he was replaced.

Edwards may return to Anfield, and Richard Hughes of Bournemouth is another candidate the Reds are considering for the position. Mike Gordon of FSG expressed his gratitude to Schmadtke last month, writing: “We would want to take this opportunity to express our sincere appreciation for Jorg’s significant contribution since joining Liverpool in the summer.

In terms of helping Jurgen Klopp and offering support and direction to our excellent football operations staff, he has made a significant contribution. In addition to expressing our gratitude for his work, we would like to take this chance to wish Jorg and his family the very best for the future.”
