Bayern Munich tried to sign £62m Chelsea player late in the January transfer window

Although Chelsea had a quiet transfer window for a change, teams continued to approach Chelsea about their own players.

With the investment of over £1 billion, the Blues have amassed a large group of youthful talent since Todd Boehly and associates acquired the team.

Many of those youthful talents, meanwhile, have never truly taken off. Mykhaylo Mudryk, the Ukrainian winger, has been the biggest letdown of them all thus far. The £62 million man has performed terribly and fallen well short of expectations.

Furthermore, Fabrizio Romano claims that Bayern made a brazen attempt for him in January because of his downward position in Pochettino’s hierarchy.

Before the window closed, Romano claims in his Here We Go Podcast that the German powerhouses inquired about signing Mudryk.

“They inquired about the possibilities of signing Mykhaylo Mudryk from Chelsea before bringing in Bryan Zaragoza, Bayern. Bayern feels that despite his talent, he is not playing regularly at the present, so they made an effort. However, there was never even a conversation from Chelsea, and Bayern knew within hours that they could not talk about Mudryk,” Romano stated.

Mudryk needs a loan move

It has been a hugely underwhelming spell at Chelsea so far for Mudryk, who was one of the hottest stories of the entire window back in January of 2023.

He’s nothing for Chelsea and doesn’t look like a great Premier League player, despite all the demand from Arsenal and other teams to sign him.

Of course, as he grows, that might happen, but you might also create a compelling case for him to need a loan relocation.

It’s debatable if participating for a subpar Bayern Munich would have accomplished the goal. However, Mudryk could benefit from a loan in general as he needs to rediscover his magic.
