Hammer missed out on transfer

Michail Antonio has missed out on another transfer possibility as a result of his current injury problems.

According to reports, the Hammers No. 9 had the chance to consider a transfer to Gremio, a Brazilian club team situated in Porto Alegre, the state capital of Rio Grande do Sul.

It would have been a picture-perfect way to round off his career, but Gremio called it off after an agreement was reached, according to a South American writer who covers the squad, as reported by West Ham Zone.

Although Mikey’s recovery and squad training had been announced by the Hammers management and club, he claimed that his knee issues were the reason for his change of heart.

The Brazilian window doesn’t end until March 7, so there’s a chance the team will follow up.

Naturally, this will be the player’s second wasted opportunity to go, with Wolves having expressed a strong interest at one point.

The fact that the Hammers were willing to let the No. 9 go despite having just Danny Ings as a reliable backup, however, is surprising and could perhaps shed light on his prospects of wearing claret and blue once more.
