Aston Villa will have to trade Ramsey or a £100 million star in 2024–2025 since the Grealish FFP benefit is “out of equation.”

To address a pressing Financial Fair Play issue, Aston Villa will have to sell either Douglas Luiz or Jacob Ramsey during the summer transfer window.

A points deduction for Everton and the possibility of further sanctions for both the Toffees and Nottingham Forest have scared clubs into adhering to the profit and sustainability regulations (PSR), which is why the January transfer window was the quietest in a long time.

For a total of £14.5 million, Villa acquired Morgan Rogers from Middlesbrough and Kosta Nedeljkovic from Red Star Belgrade. However, they apparently abandoned their plans to recruit a striker because they were concerned they would violate financial regulations.

Furthermore, financial analyst Kieran Maguire predicts that the Villans will have even more difficulties the following season because they will no longer gain from the £100 million sale of Jack Grealish.

Maguire told Football Insider that “Aston Villa spent more than any other club in 2021–22 in terms of transfers.”

The benefits of the Jack Grealish sale, which added £100 million to their FFP estimates, will no longer be taken into account starting in 2024–2025.

They will therefore need to think strategically about how they participate in the summer market.

Because of the money they bring in, academy players are more and more being seen as assets rather than as talented individuals.

“While there is always that extra special connection between the fan base and players who have gone through the academy ranks, it is just one route, and I’m sure it will disappoint fans.”

Because academy players are now seen more as assets than as talents because of the pure wealth made from their sales, Maguire thinks Villa may want to sell Ramsey as a result.

Tottenham and Bayern Munich are rumored to be interested as well, and considering Villa’s financial issues, they might approach in the summer.

Pete O’Rourke, a transfer correspondent for Villa, suggests that the team could also consider selling their highly valued player, Douglas Luiz, to Arsenal, Liverpool, and Barcelona for a sum of £100 million.
