Tottenham confirm transfer coup after late Deadline Day talks
|Spurs have officially announced the acquisition of Swedish sensation Lucas Bergvall, having outbid Barcelona for his services.
This summer, the 17-year-old midfielder will formally join Ange Postecoglou’s first team squad after signing a five-year contract worth approximately £8.5 million.
It is believed that a variety of add-ons could raise the initial cost.
After meeting with fellow countryman Dejan Kulusevski at the team’s training facility on Monday, Bergvall traveled to Barcelona as both teams made a strong effort to sign the highly-regarded youth.
With Romanian center-back Radu Dragusin arriving from Genoa earlier this month and former Chelsea forward Timo Werner signing on loan from RB Leipzig, Spurs were among the busier clubs during an otherwise quiet January transfer window.
On Deadline Day, promising striker Alejo Veliz left Spurs to play on loan with Sevilla in Spain for the remainder of the season.
