‘What an idiot’… Chris Sutton lays into Neal Maupay after what he did vs Tottenham last night
|One of the best games of the season thus far was Tottenham vs. Brentford.
This match featured five goals, a thrilling comeback victory, and some physical play between the players.
As is frequently the case, Neal Maupay caused a lot of controversy during this game by sparring with James Maddison and making fun of his celebration after he scored the first goal.
Due to his shenanigans, Maupay has not gained much popularity in north London. Chris Sutton, in an interview with the It’s All Kicking Off Podcast, criticized the striker for his actions against Tottenham.

The pundit spoke about the Frenchman.
“Neal Maupay couldn’t lace James Maddison’s boots. What is he doing? What an idiot. Everybody knows Maddison is ten times the player Neal Maupay is. Why he did it, I don’t know. You can say it is a bit mischievous but it was foolish. Maddison is Waitrose. Maupay is Lidl.”
Typical Maupay
These days, the Premier League doesn’t contain many controversial players, but Maupay is undoubtedly one of them.
The striker is skilled at infuriating opponents; he was a constant source of frustration for Arsenal and has previously made fun of another player by throwing a celebration.
Although Maupay’s actions against Maddison on Wednesday night were a little rude, it’s still just lighthearted, and having a character like this in the Premier League is always a good thing.
