Members News: Dietmar Is Our Tuesday Night ‘Special’ As Mark’s Men Take On Robins

We are happy to announce that Dietmar Bruck, our steadfast former defender of German descent, a longtime member of the CCFPA committee, and a regular attendee of CCFC games, will be our “special guest” for the Championship match between Bristol City and Mark Robins’ Sky Blues at the CBS Arena on Tuesday night. Diet will always be remembered as a former player of CCFC because he was the first player to be substituted in 1965 and was the first player to get sent off in the top division (1967)!

Along with being one of the lucky few who rode Jimmy Hill’s “Sky Blue Express” from Division Three to Division One (1960–1967), Dietmar participated in our only European Fairs Cup campaign (1970–1971). After making 217 appearances (scoring eight goals) in eleven action-packed Sky Blue years, Diet moved to Charlton Athletic in 1971. He also played for Northampton Town.

Despite being based in Lancashire today and being a major supporter of the Manchester Dragoneers Charity, “Diet” is a “regular” at all of our events, such as Golf Days and Legends Days, and has always contributed greatly to the community and charitable causes.

Watch Diet “around the lounges” prior to the game with former Sky Blue coach and defender Brian “Harry” Roberts, the CCFC’s match-day host, and following the game on stage in Lady Gs with other CCFPA committee members.

Oggy with Dietmar Bruck of CCFC If you really can’t make it to the game, CCFPA member and club goalkeeping legend Steve Ogrizovic will be providing expert commentary and live analysis for the BBC CWR team covering the match on the radio. Mike Young, the chairman of the CCFPA committee, and Jim Brown, the club’s excellent match-day magazine PUSB, will also feature regular pages for CCFPA members.

Naturally, Dietmar and everyone else in Sky Blue Land will be expecting to Mark Robins’ team to keep up their recent winning ways and secure their spot in the Championship top six by defeating the Robins.
