Bayern Munich goalkeeper Sven Ulreich likes Thomas Tuchel’s style

Sven Ulreich, the backup goalkeeper for Bayern Munich, was crucial to the team’s early-season success.

Currently seated behind world-class starter Manuel Neuer, Ulreich has taken some time to consider the situation, as well as coach Thomas Tuchel’s managerial approach.

FC Bayern München Training Session

He is an exceptionally skilled coach. He has excellent tactical understanding and a very high degree of communication within the team. He made us progress since the spring of last year. When he first joined, the circumstances weren’t simple for him. Automatisms, which are customary at FC Bayern, were absent. Though difficult, he did a good job solving it. Ulreich told Kicker’s Georg Holzner and Mario Krischel, “He had a short window of time to change everything so we get back on track as quickly as possible.” You know where you stand with him. That is the most crucial factor, and it seems right to me. Being genuine and open with one another always moves you both ahead. I enjoy his way of working, his personality and training methods. That’s a good grasp for FC Bayern.

We have won games this season that we most likely would have lost in the past. Even in our weaker performances, we prevailed. It’s critical to consistently feel successful—that’s what makes Bayern great. We are in full attack mode. We still need clean sheets and a little more steadiness on defense. We gave up a lot of goals, but overall, I believe we’re doing OK. We will continue to develop as a group. We have a great team when everyone is on the same page.

Ulreich fully understands that the team needs to improve, despite the solid results so far. For Tuchel, those improvements will likely determine just how hot his seat might get in the coming months.
