Thomas Tuchel goes full Mourinho and blames his players for the loss to Werder Bremen

Bayern Munich has not lost a match against SV Werder Bremen since 2008. This is an extremely disappointing loss in a season where every point matters. At the top of the Bundesliga table, Bayer Leverkusen currently leads by SEVEN points and doesn’t appear to be going to lose.

After this disaster, Thomas Tuchel faced the media and accepted responsibility in the only way he knew how. He fully committed to his players:

Tuchel bei DAZN mit harter Kritik an der Mannschaft. “Ich habe auch keine Lust mehr zu sagen, dass wir gut trainieren – weil das glaubt dir ja keiner mehr. Wir mĂĽssen mal die Spieler fragen. Wir haben heute belanglos gespielt. Verdiente Niederlage.” #FCBayern

Tuchel harshly criticized the team on DAZN. “Since nobody believes you anymore, I don’t feel like claiming that we’re training well anymore. The players must be questioned. Today, we played indiscriminately. deserved to lose.

“I have enough experience to judge if the training is at the level that we wanted,” Tuchel said in his next statement. That’s been the situation for a few weeks now. In training, the guys have been performing admirably. However, you have to be at your best on Sundays (during games) and Mondays and Tuesdays (during training), if you want to play for Bayern. Today, we fell short of that standard. We need to figure out how to handle that. (via @iMiaSanMia).

Of course, the natural follow up question would be — why does no one believe the team is training well? Why does Tuchel talk of finding “solutions” almost a year into his tenure?

Bayern Munich has now experienced a lengthy hiatus between games and a loss upon their return. The team used the extra rest and training to fight back and lose 5-1 to Eintracht Frankfurt the previous time their match against Union Berlin was postponed due to a snowfall. Now, following an equally lengthy hiatus that featured a training camp in Portugal, Bayern Munich returned and resumed their dreary brand of football.

Things tend to become worse the longer Tuchel appears to be with the team. Perhaps it would be best if Bayern played three games a week going forward, in order to give the coach as little time as possible to work his magic on the players.
