Brian Graham insists Partick Thistle cup final vs Rangers must avoid fixture clash

Brian Graham will try to work out a way to play for Partick Thistle on March 23 against Arbroath and captain the Firhill women’s team to the Sky Sports Cup final.

The 36-year-old is eager for the dates to be changed in order to accommodate both of his obligations, as both games are set for the same day.

After defeating Hibs 2-0 to qualify for their first-ever women’s national final, the women’s squad will take against Rangers at Tynecastle. After 53 years, this is the first major final appearance for a Partick Thistle team.

Graham also has no intention of missing it. He declared, “They have to change it.”

“We always perform on Sundays. We are just unable to perform on Saturday at 3 p.m. I will not pass up the opportunity to lead my girls out at a cup final.”

Linzi Taylor and Rosie Slater’s goals yesterday gave his team the victory over Hibs.

Leah Eddie’s departure left Hibs with just 10 players for the most of the match.

Jorian Baucom struck the crossbar in the closing moments, although Thistle was largely unaffected by the Leith team.

Rio Hardy’s penalty kick in the 95th minute gave Rangers the victory on Friday night, as they defeated Celtic 3-2 to secure their spot in the championship.

The undefeated Ibrox team is eager to keep the trophy, but Graham has stated that Thistle is capable of pulling off an upset.

“Every year since I have been involved with them they have made history,” he stated. “I had a gut feeling that we would prevail today.

Today, we witnessed the Partick Thistle battle in them. The assembly were excellent and I think the girls really enjoyed it.

“It’s important to roll up your sleeves and work hard for your teammates on days like this. Although there is skill in the locker room, we were aware that the weather would not allow for a football game.

“People talk about the top six, but we’re closer to fourth place than we are to seventh, so I don’t think my girls get the credit they deserve.”

“We think we can win any game, regardless of the opponent. That is a compliment to my players’ collective.”
