In a club statement, Coventry City denounced the alleged racial taunts aimed at Kasey Palmer during today’s 2-1 victory over Sheffield Wednesday.

After Mark Robins’ team won for the seventh time in ten games, with to two goals from Ben Sheaf either side of halftime, the Sky Blues advanced into the play-off spots.

Coventry City condemned the alleged racist remarks directed at Kasey Palmer during today’s 2-1 victory over Sheffield Wednesday in a statement sent by the club.

The Sky Blues climbed into the play-off spots after Mark Robins’ squad triumphed for the seventh time in ten games thanks to two goals from Ben Sheaf either side of halftime.

Owner of Coventry City, Doug King, stated: “We will stand by Kasey in the wake of this incident and totally denounce the vitriol directed at him today. This has no place in society or in football, and we urge Sheffield Wednesday and the authorities to take the most severe measures.

“Sheffield Wednesday and Coventry City are shocked and saddened by the racist gesture from the stands reported by Sky Blues player Kasey Palmer during today’s game at Hillsborough,” the Owls stated in a statement of their own.

“Both teams vehemently denounce any kind of prejudice and mistreatment, emphasizing that neither football nor our larger culture tolerate this kind of behavior. Anyone found to be at fault will be subject to the harshest penalties imaginable from Sheffield Wednesday as well as the law. We will collaborate with the appropriate authorities in this regard.

“We are united with Coventry City and the football community in putting an end to this reprehensible and completely unacceptable conduct.

“We totally condemn the abuse reported by Kasey Palmer today and stand with Coventry City in our clear stance that there is no place in football or society for such appalling behaviour,” stated SWFC Chairman Dejphon Chansiri.
