Jesse Lingard makes ruthless decision after Paul Scholes’ X-rated blast

Former England international Jesse Lingard hasn’t played a professional game for nine months but is hoping to find a new club this month – with his career on the line

After leaving Nottingham Forest in July of last year, Jesse Lingard has not been able to find a new club and has fired his agents.

Lingard is struggling to find a new football club

As recently as 2021, 31-year-old Lingard was a member of the England team, but he is presently having difficulty finding the appropriate opportunity. Paul Scholes, who questioned him, recently criticized him by asking, “Are you just gonna f*** about in the gym or are you gonna actually play football?”

With the transfer window open, Lingard plans to pursue the latter this month. The former Manchester United player has been linked to a move to Everton, but it appears more probable that he will make the offshore move to the Saudi Pro League or Major League Soccer. In April 2023, he made his final professional appearance, a two-minute cameo against the Red Devils.

In an attempt to find a new team, Lingard has cut his relationship with his representatives, according to Sky Sports News. According to a person close to the athlete, he is disappointed that he did not sign a deal sooner and is determined to play professionally once more.

One of the Premier League’s most captivating players, Lingard’s future appears uncertain at this point. Alongside players like Paul Pogba, Ravel Morrison, and Sam Johnstone, he won the FA Youth Cup in 2011 and went on to graduate from United’s academy.

After playing more than 200 games for the Red Devils, Lingard is best known for scoring the game-winning goal against Crystal Palace in the 2016 FA Cup final. During his tenure at Old Trafford, he also won the Europa League, the League Cup, and the Community Shield.

However, he struggled for minutes as his time at United was coming to a conclusion. After failing to play in the first half of that season, the winger signed a loan with West Ham in January 2021, a move that appeared to kickstart his career.

Reminding England manager Gareth Southgate of his potential, Lingard scored nine goals in 16 Premier League games, earning the division’s Player of the Month title in April 2021. That year, he made a comeback to the national team, earning his 32nd and last cap.

In July 2022, Lingard became a free agent. It was generally anticipated that he would sign a long-term contract with West Ham, but he chose to accept a one-year contract with Forest. He was let go after failing to score in 17 league games, so that move backfired.

Since then, the player has been linked to a move to the United States and has trained with Steven Gerrard’s Al-Ettifaq in Saudi Arabia, but nothing official has happened as of yet. TalkSPORT claims that Everton is thinking of giving Lingard a six-month deal.
