Liverpool and Bayern Munich compete for Manu Kone.
Large teams have expressed a great deal of interest in Manu Kopne during the summer, but a transfer may have been derailed by an unfortunate injury. Liverpool was interested in the Frenchman, and others like Chelsea and Newcastle United may have thought about making an approach.

Borussia Monchengladbach is aware that clubs may make comebacks and may decide to list for sale. After Thomas Tuchel apparently identified Kone as a key target for the winter window, Bayern Munich reportedly offered to spend €40–45 million to recruit the Frenchman in January.

Joao Palhinha, another target for Liverpool, was also a target for Bayern, and the two sides even worked out a deal, but the early end of the German transfer window prevented a transfer. They won’t be coming back for the Portuguese midfield player, and they won’t care how much it costs to get the 28-year-old.

They are concentrating on a younger midfielder instead, but Kone and Palhinha have distinct styles. Liverpool can guarantee a fight with Bayern in January and is also interested in Kone. Though Ryan Gravenberch and the 22-year-old have similar profiles, the Reds may have looked at the player throughout the summer before signing him.

Because they need a holding midfielder more than someone with Kone’s profile, it is unclear whether Liverpool will pursue Kone aggressively.

In middle, Thomas Tuchel’s gaze changes.
Bayern failed to find a replacement for Gravenberch when he left the team for Liverpool in the summer. The German manager clearly required a holding midfielder as evidenced by his pursuit of Palhinha. Therefore, Kone’s pursuit.

Bayern may therefore be prepared to pay a sizable sum to acquire him from their Bundesliga rivals. Liverpool is still figuring out how to set up their midfield in the long run. PSG is one of the teams after Kone, and in contrast to the other two teams, they may be able to provide him with better terms and circumstances.
