Medical Begins: Crystal Palace closing in on signing Nottingham forest star – view

Nottingham Forest goalkeeper Matt Turner is set to join Crystal Palace on loan. The two clubs have agreed a deal and the 30-year-old will now travel to complete a medical and other formalities before the deadline at 11pm on Friday (30 August).

He joins Palace following the departure of Sam Johnstone, who has joined Wolves on a permanent basis.

Nottingham Forest have made a goalkeeper signing of their own this summer, adding Carlos Miguel to their squad to compete with Matz Sels.

44-cap United States international Turner started the 2023-24 campaign as the number-one goalkeeper at Forest and made 21 appearances across all competitions following his move from Arsenal.

But he was replaced in the side by Odysseas Vlachodimos and later Sels – and now finds himself surplus to requirements at the City Ground.

Palace have swooped in to bolster their ranks on transfer deadline day to make Turner their fifth signing of the summer window.

The Croydon club are also expected to wrap up a deal for Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah.

Oliver Glasner’s side are yet to pick up a point in two Premier League games this season and are in action against Chelsea on Sunday (1 September).

Meanwhile, Forest sit seventh in the table after picking up four points from two games.
