Liverpool transfer news: Klopp outlines Salah’s stance for January as the Inacio race heats up.

Goncalo Inacio of Sporting Lisbon is one of Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp’s top targets in the January transfer window as he is looking for a left-footed center back.

Prior to their matchup with Newcastle at Anfield on Monday, Liverpool leads the Premier League.

After defeating Burnley 2-0 on Boxing Day, Jurgen Klopp’s team is in strong form, helped by Arsenal’s subsequent defeat to West Ham. The Gunners will play Fulham on Sunday in an attempt to make apologies, and Aston Villa can tie Liverpool if they defeat Burnley on Saturday.

Although they might not start the New Year as the top team, Liverpool is well-positioned for the second half of the campaign. Things could get difficult in the upcoming weeks due to injuries to Andy Robertson and Kostas Tsimikas, as well as the impending departures of Mohamed Salah and Wataru Endo, but there is some comfort in the January transfer window. The most recent transfers involving Liverpool are listed here.

Inacio race heats up

After Joel Matip’s season-ending injury, Liverpool is searching for a left-footed center back to bolster their defensive options. It would be good to have reinforcements because Joe Gomez is now filling in as a backup in both the full-back and center defense roles.

Goncalo Inacio, a defender for Sporting, is a good fit. Although the 22-year-old is highly regarded, Liverpool must regrettably acknowledge that many other teams have taken note. Marca reports that the young defender, who has a deal with Sporting until June 2027, is being watched by Real Madrid and Arsenal.

He would apparently be available for €60million (£52m) next month, which is pricey but Liverpool have acted in January previously to sign Luis Diaz and Cody Gakpo, so it’s not out of the question.

Klopp outlines Salah stance

Given that the Africa Cup of Nations takes place from January 13 to February 11, Liverpool is prepared to lose Salah in the New Year. Salah may miss seven Liverpool games, depending on how Egypt performs. This may have a major effect on the Reds’ season.

But Klopp is used to losing Salah in January, therefore he isn’t anticipating any moves to replace him in the January window. “We had it even worse when Sadio [Mane] and Mo left and we came through it somehow,” he remarked on Friday. “It is not the first time, it is a really at least very average situation that you lose your goalscorer.”

It was made worse by the fact that one of them usually advanced rather far in the competition. We need to overcome this. We were aware that Mo would occasionally have to travel for the Africa Cup of Nations, and that Endo would also be competing in the Asian Cup, so things are as they are. We were aware of it, and we will deal with it going forward.
