Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers gives update on Manchester City transfer pursuit…

Manchester City have just six days left of the window to wrap up any more business.

Brendan Rodgers has revealed Celtic are yet to receive an offer from Manchester City for striker Kyogo Furuhashi.

The Japanese international is admired by City, and Pep Guardiola’s squad lacks a natural replacement for Erling Haaland following the departure of Julian Alvarez.

But Furuhashi’s signing looks unlikely at this stage, especially with City yet to make contact over the 29-year-old as the transfer window enters in final six days

“There’s been so many players linked with going away but that’s no different, there’s nothing concrete,” said Rodgers ahead of Celtic’s game against St Mirren.

“Naturally it comes and we just deal with it,” he added, on links with City. “But there’s been nothing from Man City. It’s obviously rumour and gossip. I haven’t spoken to him directly on that.

“If I was speaking to every player around gossip and speculation, I would be 24 hours a day. It’s of no interest to me. My focus is very much here with Celtic and preparing the team for the game at the weekend.

“Most importantly for me is he is now back feeling comfortable on the grass. He has been brilliant in training the last couple of days and he will be available for the weekend.”

It comes after Guardiola revealed on Friday that the arrival of Ilkay Gundogan could be City’s final signing of the summer window.

“I don’t know what is going to happen,” he said, when asked if City could make more additions in the window. “Could happen something in terms of injuries, hopefully not. Right now I don’t think so.”
