Following eight transfers and a fantasy conclusion to the window, Nottingham Forest lineup in three ways.

This time next week, head coach Nuno Espirito Santo will know the Nottingham Forest squad he has to work with for the 2024/25 Premier League season.

Come next Saturday, the final deals will have been done and the summer transfer window will have slammed shut. The Reds have until 11pm on the Friday (August 30) to put the finishing touches to Nuno’s group.

Eight signings have put pen to paper so far. Marko Stamenic will spend the campaign on loan at Olympiacos, while Eric da Silva Moreira, Elliot Anderson, Carlos Miguel, Nikola Milenkovic, Jota Silva, Ramon Sosa and Alex Moreno will all be fighting to secure a place in the starting XI.

If a deal for the Gunners man does get over the line, it would only increase the competition for places. The aim for Forest is to end the window with sufficient strength in depth across the pitch to push on in the top-flight. Below, we take a look at some of the different ways the Reds could line up in the months ahead – including should they add Nketiah to the ranks.

4-2-3-1

Pre-season indicated Nuno wants the Reds to be flexible with their formation choices this term. It is likely he will turn to a back three at some point, but sticking with the 4-2-3-1 system frequently deployed last season does allow Morgan Gibbs-White to operate in his favoured No.10 role. Could he soon have a different front man to link up with in the form of Nketiah?

On paper, the partnership of Milenkovic alongside Murillo in central defence could be a formidable one. Fellow summer signing Anderson’s versatility is a useful asset but he has spoken about looking to pin down one particular position.

Forest (4-2-3-1): Sels; Williams, Milenkovic, Murillo, Aina; Sangare, Anderson; Elanga, Gibbs-White, Hudson-Odoi; Nketiah
