Training Report: Three Bayern players returned to team practice ahead of Bundesliga opener against Wolfsburg

One of the subplots of this young season has been the absences of players like Leroy Sané, Sacha Boey, and Leon Goretzka from recent training sessions and games.

Sané and Boey were each battling injuries and attempting to work their way back to full health. Meanwhile, Goretzka was also battling an injury, while also being involved in what is developing into an embarrassing standoff with the club.

The front office and coaching staff wants the midfielder to leave, but the 29-year-old wants to stay and fight for his role on the team (while also collecting a pretty sizable salary). That is a topic for another post, however.

For the Bayern Munich Training Report, it is just important that all three players returned to the team practice session today ahead of tomorrow’s friendly against Grasshopper Zurich:

Leon Goretzka, who was not included in the DFB Cup, is continuing to train normally with the FC Bayern team. Sacha Boey and Leroy Sané are also back in team training and could be squad options for the Bundesliga opener on Sunday against Wolfsburg

FCBayern.com  issued a formal update on Sane as well:

Leroy Sané was able to complete parts of team training on Monday. The forward took part in the warm-up and some exercises with his teammates before continuing his individual recovery programme. The 28-year-old had an operation on his groin following Euro 2024 and has since been working on a return to full fitness.
