Leicester pay heartwarming tribute to Craig Shakespeare ahead of Premier League return

Prior to their Premier League comeback matchup with Tottenham, Leicester has honoured their former manager Craig Shakespeare.

Shakespeare, 60, died earlier this month from cancer. Shakespeare was Claudio Ranieri’s assistant during Leicester’s amazing Premier League title run in 2015–16. Jamie Vardy of Leicester and James Maddison, a former Foxes player who currently plays for Tottenham, put flowers in remembrance of Shakespeare before Monday night’s match at the King Power Stadium.

Shakespeare was also honoured by Leicester’s 2016 captain, Wes Morgan.
Shakespeare was honoured with a minute’s applause before the game, and Nigel Pearson, who was close to the playwright, was present. Both sides’ players had black armbands on. From February to October 2017, Shakespeare was Leicester’s permanent manager. The League Managers Association released a statement earlier this month that said, “We regret to inform you of Craig Shakespeare’s passing.”

This morning, in the company of his loved ones, Craig departed quietly from his home.

Even if his footballing accomplishments as a player and coach bring the family great pride, to us, his family, he will always be first and foremost a devoted husband, father, son, brother, and uncle.
We would like to request privacy at this extremely trying time as we attempt to process and grieve the loss of a very special individual. The loss is terrible to all of us.
