Leicester City ‘submit £4m transfer bid’ for Crystal Palace forward: View

Leicester City transfer update as the Foxes are linked with a £4m move for Crystal Palace forward Jordan Ayew

Leicester City have reportedly bid £4m for Crystal Palace forward Jordan Ayew, who is expected to be allowed to leave the Eagles this summer transfer window. The Daily Mail report that Palace are now considering the offer for Ghanaian Ayew, who has been with the club since the summer window of 2018.

Attacker Ayew, who turns 33 next month, has played over 200 games for Palace and has scored 23 goals, but he could quit Selhurst Park this summer as he has only a single year left on his deal with the Londoners.

Steve Cooper, who is understandably eager to add forward options to his squad before the transfer window closes at the end of August, takes charge of the Foxes for the first time on Monday night when they welcome Tottenham to the King Power Stadium. He has worked previously with Jordan’s older brother Andre at Nottingham Forest and Swansea City.

“We want to add players to the squad, particularly at the top end of the pitch,” Cooper said earlier this month. “That’s what we’re trying to do. We were so close to getting a few in this week that haven’t quite worked out. So we’ll move onto the next ones.

“We know where we want to strengthen, we know where we want to improve. If we can improve a starter in the team, we’ll do that, and we know we need to strengthen the competition in some places as well.

“The step into the Premier League is a huge one. The guys who have been there before, including myself, we need to remind ourselves what’s coming. For the guys going up for the first time, we’re really trying to prepare them for how it feels. We’ll be working hard on the pitch. We’ll be working hard off the pitch to try to bring players in. Hopefully we’ll continue to improve and progress and be ready for that first game.”
