“Enough is enough!” — Bayern Munich’s Uli Hoeneß lashes out at FIFA and UEFA

The new UEFA Champions League format set to debut the upcoming season isn’t the only major change to come in football as we know it today. FIFA has revolutionized the current Club World Cup format, moving from a yearly mini-competition involving only continental champions to a full-blown 32-team summer tournament to crown the club world champion once every four years.

These decisions have had their fair share of controversy, inviting distaste from fans, players, and club officials alike. The latest to join the mix criticizing the increase in games leading to player burnout and injury was Bayern Munich’s honorary president Uli Hoeneß.

“Real Madrid has the same worries as us — at some point enough is enough. What some officials at UEFA and FIFA are planning is madness. The sport is getting worse, the players are getting injured more often,” said Uli Hoeneß hitting back at the new changes Maximilian Koch

Do you agree with Uli’s assessment? What do you think of the new tournament formats? Tell us in the comments below.
