‘Wow’: Ian Wright shocked after Gary Neville predicts where Tottenham are going to finish this season

Tottenham Hotspur are hoping to have a much better season in the Premier League in 2024/25 than they did last time out.

Ange Postecoglou deserves a lot of credit for the job he did in his debut campaign.

The Australian almost instantly transformed the club, and Tottenham looked like they were the team to beat early last season.

However, injuries really hurt them and Spurs ended up finishing fifth in the table in the end – two points behind the final Champions League place.

Gary Neville predicts where Tottenham will finish in the 2024/25 season

Gary Neville revealed his predictions for the 2024/25 season in the latest episode of the Stick to Football podcast, and he had his say about Tottenham.

Spurs’ basic objective in the upcoming campaign would be to finish inside the top four.

Postecoglou was furious towards the end of last season when his side struggled to get over the line despite being in a great position.

The Spurs boss will be hoping for a lot more, but the bare minimum would be to finish in one of the Champions League places.

However, there will be a lot of competition.

Arsenal and Manchester City are almost guaranteed to be in the top four, while you can argue that Liverpool are good enough to make it there. Manchester United have done some good business in this window and they will be there, as will Newcastle United and Aston Villa.

That makes it difficult for Spurs, but Neville seems confident that Postecoglou’s men will finish fourth in the Premier League table – ahead of Liverpool.

“I’ll go Tottenham,” he said while talking about who will finish fourth.

A surprised Ian Wright replied: “You’re going to go Tottenham? Wow!”

Jamie Carragher and Wright both predicted Liverpool to finish fourth, ahead of Spurs.

What Tottenham should be aiming for

As we said above, top-four is the bare minimum for Tottenham, but they are capable of so much more.

Spurs showed in the 2023/24 season that they can go toe-to-toe against the big sides in the Premier League.

They have the attack to hurt any team, and although there is still work to do at the back, they should be aiming for more.

Tottenham should be eyeing that third spot this season, as well as going all the way in the Europa League. They need to go hard in the domestic cups too – their trophy drought has been going on for over 6000 days now.

Spurs should do everything they can to win a trophy this season.
