Marc Guehi was active on social media as news of Newcastle United’s newest bid for the Crystal Palace defender went public.

The Magpies have been locked in talks to sign the 24-year-old having saw two offers turned down by Palace last week. But Newcastle have returned with a third bid, understood be worth £55million with achievable add-ons which could take the deal past £60m – as per iNews.

The improved bid was made over the weekend but didn’t go public until Monday afternoon with Sky Sports News first to break the story. And just hours later, Guehi suggested he was unaffected by reports after taking to Instagram.

In his post, Guehi uploaded photos of him back in action for Palace with the caption “back at it”. It comes after the former Chelsea youngster played an hour of Palace’s 1-1 draw against Nantes on Sunday in what was his first appearance since reporting back for pre-season.

United will hope for progress before this weekend’s Premier League opener at home to Southampton. Palace, meanwhile, open up their campaign away to Brentford.

Oliver Glasner’s side have been looking at other centre-backs in the event that that Guehi leaves. The shortlist reportedly includes Wolfsburg’s Maxence Lacroix, Bayer Leverkusen’s Odilon Kossounou and Chelsea’s Trevoh Chalobah.
