Wolves into Hobsons Hedgehog Cup in the quarter-final

After signing up to the Hedgehog Friendly Football League back in March, Wolves are now marching on in the Hobsons Hedgehog Cup and have reached the quarter-final stage.

The league was set up by the British Hedgehog Preservation Society to see professional clubs compete to become the most hedgehog friendly in the country – the clubs taking part see hedgehog welfare as important and want to make stadiums and training grounds across the country more wildlife friendly.

Wolves, who run their own One Pack, One Planet campaign already, pledged to help protect hedgehogs in the wild and encourage fans to make green spaces – from parks to gardens – more biodiverse and welcoming for hedgehogs.

That work has carried the club to the last eight of the Hobsons Hedgehog Cup, where the Old Gold will face West Midlands neighbours Aston Villa.

The Hobsons Hedgehog Cup is a chance for teams in the league to win an actual piece of silverware. Clubs have been competing against each other, with the team scoring the most ‘goals’ within a given time progressing to the next round.

Wolves now need the help of their supporters, who can contribute in one of the following ways:

Fay Vass, CEO of BHPS, said: “We at The British Hedgehog Preservation Society are delighted that Wolves are part of our Hedgehog Friendly Football League and are taking the related Hobsons Hedgehog Cup competition by storm.”
