I am thrilled to be at Everton, and now I want to show the world what I can do.

Everton’s new signing Jesper Lindstrom speaks of his ambitions following a move to Merseyside that started with a dream first appearance at Preston North End

Jesper Lindstrom said his transition into Everton’s squad has felt “natural” as he looked back on an impressive first display in Royal Blue. The 23-year-old scored a delicious free-kick in the 3-0 win over Preston North End, a welcome victory in which Everton showed their best attacking form of the summer.

Key to that was the loanee and the relationship he appears to have struck up with teammates Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Jack Harrison and Dwight McNeil.

The four formed an effective attacking unit at Deepdale, with Calvert-Lewin getting a goal and an assist, Lindstrom getting his strike and Harrison and McNeil influential in moves for the first and third goals.

Of the many positives of his afternoon, one that stood out was his first experience of Everton supporters as more than 5,000 Blues filled the away end and cheered on their side. He said: “They were amazing. I can’t wait to get started. I heard some stories but it is even better (than I expected). I want the atmosphere, I want the atmosphere in Goodison Park – I am looking forward to that.”

The Denmark international endured a tough season in Serie A after a big money move following a successful stint with Eintracht Frankfurt, where he won the Europa League.

He is keen to restart his career on Merseyside, saying of his ambitions: “Just to get back on track. Hey, I had some good seasons in Frankfurt and a difficult one in Italy. So I want to get back on track. I have some minutes in my legs, I want to show the world that I still have my level and I can perform.”
