South American club offer £17m attacker to West Ham – report

Corinthians have offered West Ham United the opportunity to sign Yuri Alberto ahead of the transfer deadline

(29 July) that while the Brazilian side are yet to receive an offer for the forward, they hope that a potential suitor will match their £17million valuation.

No move away from Corinthians is thought to be advanced at this stage, despite the fact Nottingham Forest have also been tipped to enter the race for his signature ahead of the new season.

Will Yuri Alberto exit Corinthians amid West Ham United transfer rumours?

It seems as though Julen Lopetegui and Tim Steidten are considering all their options as they continue the search for a new striker at the London Stadium during the transfer window.

The former Real Madrid manager is eager to secure a new number nine before the season gets underway and the Hammers have been linked with several different players all with varying degrees of top-flight experience.

Alberto is quite clearly a player that Steidten likes as he was very keen to secure his signature last summer, but for whatever reason the Irons weren’t able to tempt him away from South America.

West Ham have not been afraid to shop in that part of the world recently. They brought Luis Guilherme from Brazil and worked incredibly hard to try and complete the signing of Fabricio Bruno [Florian Plettenberg, 10 June].

Whether or not they take the Brazilian club up on their offer to buy Alberto this summer remains to be seen, but he could be a good reserve option for the Hammers if they aren’t able to get their hands on any of their other attacking targets.
