Nottingham Forest ‘target’ posts cryptic message amid big transfer update

Ramon Sosa has uploaded a cryptic social media post amid reports Nottingham Forest have been thwarted in their attempts to capture the winger.

The Paraguay international has been the subject of plenty of speculation in recent weeks, with the Reds said to be among the clubs eyeing up his reported $20 million (ÂŁ15.5m) release clause. Strengthening out wide is a priority for head coach Nuno Espirito Santo, and Forest were reported to have held talks with Argentine club Talleres about the possibility of signing Sosa.

However, Paraguayan publication Versus have now said “everything indicates” Talleres are not “entirely convinced” by what Forest have offered. They suggest a move to Europe has fallen through for the 24-year-old.

They also note a social media post by Sosa and speculate it “could be related” to the state of play regarding his future. The player uploaded an emoji of a downcast face against a plain background on his Instagram stories on Saturday.

Versus claim the Reds offered 12.3m euros (ÂŁ10.4m) as a fixed amount for Sosa. The package would also include 2.3m euros (ÂŁ1.9m) add-ons relating to certain objectives being met.

Argentinian media outlet state MLS side LA Galaxy could reenter the fray for the winger. They reportedly had a $15m (ÂŁ11.6m) offer rejected earlier this year.

The cost of Sosa’s release clause is said to have deterred Argentine teams Boca Juniors and River Plate from pursuing the player after they had him on their radar. Everton and Newcastle United were said to have scouted him, and fellow Premier League sides Chelsea, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Leicester City have also previously been credited with an interest.

In May, Talleres president Andres Fassi indicated Sosa was likely to leave this summer. He said: “Ramon will surely be released in this market, he has our commitment to leave.
