Tottenham set sights on Premier League duo after cooling interest in £50m forward

Tottenham Hotspur have made one signing so far this summer, and there’s a good chance that more are on the horizon.

Spurs have signed Archie Gray – one of the best young players in English football – from Leeds United, and allowed Joe Rodon to move the other way

Lucas Bergvall has also arrived at Tottenham this summer after the club struck a deal with Djurgardens for the Swedish prodigy earlier this year.

Spurs are seemingly looking at bringing in some reinforcements in attack, with plenty of names doing the rounds in recent weeks.

However, it seems as though Tottenham have now conceded defeat in pursuit of a “sensational” talent amid strong interest from two European giants.

Spurs unlikely to match Desire Doue offers

Tottenham are now unlikely to match the offers for Desire Doue that have come in from Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain.

Bayern have bid €55million (£46million), whilst PSG’s offer amounts to nearer €60million (£50million) – which is Rennes’ asking price.

Tottenham have been watching Doue closely and are huge admirers of the teenager, but as it stands they are not ready to move for him.

TBR understands that Spurs’ interest in bringing in a wide forward is seeing them focus their attentions on Crystal Palace’s Eberechi Eze and Pedro Neto of Wolves.

Eze and Neto are Premier League-proven

Tottenham have done very well in the transfer market over the past few windows, beating elite clubs to a number of top talents.

For instance, Spurs got the better of Bayern Munich in pursuit of Radu Dragusin, while Lucas Bergvall joined the Lilywhites ahead of Barcelona.

And when it came to the signing of Pape Matar Sarr, Tottenham were reportedly congratulated by the sporting directors of other clubs for getting the deal over the line.

However, some will invariably slip through the net, and in Doue’s case, the interest – and finances – from Bayern and PSG is proving too strong for Spurs to carry on.

Lauded as a ‘sensational‘ young prospect by Ben Jacobs, Doue has quickly emerged as one of the top young players in Europe.

That said, Eze and Neto have the advantage of considerable Premier League experience, which means they’re more likely to hit the ground running if either was to join Tottenham.
