Pundit confirms transfer disappointment for Wolves and Nottingham Forest: View

Gary O’Neil has missed out on one of his long term transfer targets  “Torino are closing in on deal to sign Che Adams as free agent, talks at final stages now.

“Che Adams has approved project presented by Torino and final details are being sorted.”

Adams was a long term transfer target for Wolves, and last summer it was reported that a bid of £18m had been rejected for him. The Saints stood their ground on the Scotland striker, but he opted to leave St Mary’s, despite their immediate return to the Premier League.

In his one season back in the Championship, he notched up 15 goals and four assists in 40 Championship games, and came on as a substitute for the final 20 minutes of their play-off final win over Leeds United. Adams played in all three of Scotland’s Euro 2024 matches in Germany in June, and following the end of the tournament, he enjoyed a break before deciding on his future.

Wolves had reportedly offered a contract to Adams at the start of June, and were believed to be hopeful about concluding a deal. They will instead have to watch one of their long-term targets move abroad, having previously had the opportunity to sign him for nothing.

They weren’t alone in their interest, as Everton had him down as a primary transfer target, whilst Nottingham Forest also emerged as a possible destination before EURO 2024. The 28-year-old will instead test himself in Italy with Torino, and he is set to complete his move there this week, with a medical booked on Monday
