Newcastle ‘agree £35m’ in ‘straight sale’ of another departure alongside Yankuba Minteh deal

Newcastle United are poised to sell two players as Eddie Howe’s men look to meet the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules.

HITC understands that Nottingham Forest have agreed a deal with Newcastle United for midfielder Elliot Anderson.

Newcastle have been struggling to meet PSR regulations and they went into the weekend needing to accumulate substantial profits.

The Magpies have agreed to sell winger Yankuba Minteh to Brighton for £33million and now they have come to terms with Nottingham Forest over 21-year-old Anderson.

Highly-rated midfielder Anderson has come through the youth ranks at St James’ Park and ideally Newcastle did not want to sell, but they felt to pass PSR regulations, they need to sell.

HITC understands that Eddie Howe and Newcastle did not want to lose Minteh or Anderson, but they risked points deductions next season if they did not make substantial profits this weekend.

Anderson will now be moving for more than £30million, giving Newcastle two considerable sales this weekend.

Newcastle fancied Forest duo

Newcastle had also asked Nottingham Forest about Anthony Elanga and Morgan Gibbs-White during talks over the Anderson deal.

Elanga only joined Forest from Manchester United last summer but enjoyed a productive first season at the City Ground.

The Swede notched five goals and nine assists across 36 Premier League appearances for Forest.

Gibbs-White turned out 37 times for Forest, hitting five goals and 10 assists in another strong campaign.

Newcastle have shown an interest in both players as the Magpies look to bring players in whilst attempting to sell and raise funds.

Elliot Anderson stats for Newcastle United

Anderson hails from Whitley Bay in the North East and spent time with the famed Wallsend Boys Club before joining Newcastle at the age of just eight.

The midfielder was handed his first-team debut in January 2021, a year before heading on loan to Bristol Rovers.

Anderson impressed in League Two, notching eight goals in 21 games during his time with the Pirates.

Anderson has been a regular in the Newcastle setup ever since, recording 43 Premier League appearances across the last two seasons.

The 21-year-old is yet to score in senior action for Newcastle but has chipped in with three assists.

Anderson is now poised to join Forest, reuniting with former Newcastle teammate Chris Wood in the process.
