Player accused of faking injury prior to Nottingham Forest move – Manager goes public about situation

At the weekend, we covered reports from Brazil which said that due to an ankle injury, Carlos Miguel wouldn’t play for Corinthians against Athletico Paranaense.

The goalkeeper, who’s set to join Nottingham Forest as soon as the Reds trigger his release clause, was said to be in pain and missed the trip to Curitiba due to that.

It seemed like a potential excuse for him to be out of the squad, and now states that’s the case.

The website writes that Corinthians doctors carried out assessments and found no injury, despite Carlos Miguel complaining about ‘pain in both ankles’, and cleared him to train and play.

With the stopper staying in São Paulo, even manager Antonio Oliveira got angry about the situation, and went public to say he’s no longer playing for the club.

“No, Carlos Miguel no longer plays for Corinthians. I’ve said it and I’ve said it in this group. Only those who want to be here at the club do it passionately, and many of those who are in this position today should realise that many people dream of being able to represent one of the biggest clubs. It bothered me, it bothers me, and Carlos Miguel won’t be playing for Corinthians any more.”

The weekend before, the goalkeeper had already been suspended because of a completely unnecessary push on an opponent, missing Wednesday’s match as well. So that all looks like a plan to not play until Nottingham Forest actually buy him.

On Band, pundit Neto claims that Carlos Miguel is travelling to England on July 6th.

Now while Nottingham Forest know they’re signing a player who’s making some efforts to join them, the goalkeeper is also aware he’ll forever be hated at Corinthians.
