Revealed: Newcastle to announce sale imminently after shock swap deal twist

Newcastle United are in advanced talks to sell winger Yankuba Minteh, first revealed on 9 June the north-east giants could accept a £25million bid for the Gambia international.

A foreign club is in pole position to agree a deal for the 19-year-old, but Everton have also discussed the possibility of signing him during the talks surrounding Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

In a shock twist, Merseyside giants suggested Minteh be included as part of a swap deal for the 27-year-old striker, but Newcastle want to secure a separate transaction as it’s better for their profit and sustainability (PSR) situation.

Minteh is expected to be sold by the end of next week despite his deal at St James’ Park running until 2028, with an announcement to follow.

Everton could now submit a cash bid to sign the winger as Sean Dyche looks to add to his attacking options this summer.

Newcastle set to sell Yankuba Minteh despite loan form

Newcastle only signed Minteh for £6million last summer after he registered four goals and six assists in his first season with Danish side Odense.

The Gambian was then sent out on loan to Dutch giants Feyenoord, where he scored 10 goals and laid on six assists in 27 Eredivisie appearances last season.

That prompted Liverpool under new boss Arne Slot, who managed Minteh during his time in Rotterdam, to register their interest in signing the winger this summer.

Everton could now make a bid to sign the winger, but they will have to fight off interest from clubs overseas if they want to land his signature.
