Eze reacts to south London mural: ‘My group chat was going off!’ See video
|Ebere Eze says a new mural in south London celebrating his achievement in becoming a full England international is ‘a big blessing’ – especially its impact on family and friends.
Artist ‘Mr Meana’ has painted the mural of Eze, in an England kit with a St George’s cross, in the Kirby estate in South London
Eze grew up in nearby Greenwich, and struggled to comprehend seeing the mural going up over the last week.
“This is deep, man – in the ends as well!” Eze said, watching the video while on England duty. “Oi this is insane, man. This is insane.
“Your picture is on the wall somewhere, someone is painting you. And it is in the ends as well, so that’s huge.
“My family are going to be out there taking pictures soon…”
Eze’s form at Crystal Palace has seen him earn a recall to the England squad, travelling as part of the 26-man party to Euro 2024 after impressing in warm-up games against Bosnia & Herzegovina and Iceland.

From South London to England, it makes him an example for the next generation to follow.
“I’m grateful,” Eze said. “I feel like repping whole of South [London]. That’s what it feels like, probably not but that’s what it feels like I am. Glory to god.
“That’s what they are always doing in South London: always celebrating someone. So to have my own now…
“My boys live there as well, that’s what’s mad. My whole group chat was going off!
“It’s a big blessing.
