Fabio Silva’s Dad Makes Celtic Transfer Claim

Fabio Silva’s father, Jorge Silva, recently claimed that before choosing Rangers, the Portuguese striker had the option to join Celtic.

In an interview with the Daily Record, Jorge Silva revealed, “At the beginning, Fabio had the opportunity to choose other clubs, even in Scotland.

“Could he have gone to Celtic? Yes, he could have gone there.

“Many people told him to go there because the way they play is maybe closer to Fabio’s abilities. But he chose Rangers.

“People spoke to us about his religion because he’s a Catholic but Fabio doesn’t show that to everyone. Even so, he told me as his father that he just wanted to play for Rangers.”

Silva’s time at Rangers was marked by widespread criticism from fans for his underwhelming performances and frequent diving. The 3-3 derby at Ibrox was an embarrassing and pathetic display from the forward, even his own fans were turning on him.

His tenure culminated in a contentious exit, where he openly stated his intention not to return to the club. His departure coincided with a successful season for Celtic, who clinched both the league and the Scottish Cup, I bet he regrets not choosing a move to the east end of Glasgow.

It’s a story of what could’ve been, but in all honesty, I can’t see where he fits in the team. He’s a unique player and with Celtic pretty strong in the final third, he just wouldn’t fit in.
